Eteki Esoh Memorial Sports Academy, EEMSA has began the 2020/2021 SW football season with an upset. The side coach by Ayuk Basil defeated Tiko United alias the Samba Boys by 1 goal to 0, in the opening game of the new football season.

The launch of the 2020/2021 of the South West Regional Championship was played at the Tiko Town Green Stadium. The game was watched by a handful of spectators who have been starved of competitive football in the region since the month of April.

In the first half of play it was almost an equal showing for both EEMSA and Tiko United. Both sides showed their efforts but all shots went wide. It was EEMSA that got things going as they struck first. Bache Manfred scored for EEMSA at the 19th minute of play. It was a beautiful cross from the corner flank which met Bache and he calmly slots it in.

Captain of Tiko United Eken Livinus had countless chances but hits wide on all occasions. His chances of scoring was made complicated with a strong defence line of EEMSA which made it difficult for Tiko United to by pass. Goalkeeper Martin Egbe was also on hand to save his side from their lapses.

At first half of play it was EEMSA who was still at head, leading one goal to zero.

The launching ceremony took place in the presence of the representative of the Governor of the South West Region, Ndive Molongu Thomas, Sylvester Esowe Muambo, President and SG of the SW FECAFOOT respectively, and a host of club officials.

The second half of play began more brighter for EEMSA who had a number of chances to move two clear ahead. Elvis Leku of EEMSA had a one-on-one chance but decide to pass it to no one at the touchline.

The anxiety level of the fans of Tiko United could be felt with every opportunity missed from the players. Eken of Tiko United during the second half had a one-on-one chance but kicked to the waiting hands of goalkeeper Martin Egbe.

The two sides could not be separated in the second half. At 90 minute the game ended 1-0 in favour of EEMSA to the dismay of the fans of the Samba Boys.

After the launch, the rest of the match day one fixtures will be played on December 20, as opposed to December 16 as initially planned. This is one of many decisions taken during the General Assembly of the League that held December 12 in Buea. The shift of date is to give coaches ample time to help them prepare for their fixtures. The coaches had complained that not enough time have been given to them and some have not even completed the licencing process.

In the other day one matches to come, Prisons of Buea will face Cinyodev FA, H.O Academy against Mount Cameroon FC in pool A. Pool B sees Dynamic of Buea against CUSA, while UB FC faces Buea United FC.  Continental FA is on standby.

Pool C has NQSA against LIFCA. ISOHSA against FUSSA.

In pool D Victoria United will face Option Sports. Best Starts is on standby in this group.

NEMFA vs Bao Manibok and Future Dream against Nkamanyi FI are thé fixtures for match day one in group E.

Ajax FC Likomba vs Little Foot will contest the other day one game in pool F. While Treviso is on standby.

It should be recalled that after the complete day one matches which will be played on December 20, the competition will take a recess only to resume after the African Nations Championship, a competition Cameroon is scheduled to host from January to February 2021.
