Rivers Angels coach Edwin Okon after his side’s 0-0 draw with Delta Queens praised his players but implored the match officials to let the game flow.
“The players give out their best but the officiating spoilt the game. The team deserves to win. With three more matches to go, we will try to win the games if the match officials allow the game to flow accordingly. In football, anything can happen if the officiating allows the games to go as it is supposed to go.” He told pressmen after the barren draw at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, Edo State on Tuesday.
Defending Champions, Rivers Angels have a point from the first two games of the 2021 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Super Six.
The team lost its first game 2-1 to Bayelsa Queens before the latest 0-0 draw with Delta Queens.
Up next for the Port Harcourt-based side is a clash with newcomers, Naja Ratels on Thursday.

Delta Queen’s coach, Tosan Blankson admitted that the draw was not a good one for his side but showed optimism that Delta Queens can still win the title.
He said: “The draw wasn’t too good for us. We came for a win and expected the girls to raise the tempo of the game but unfortunately for us, the game ended that way. Notwithstanding, we still have good chances. The two games that we played were tough matches. We still have the likes of Nasarawa Amazons, Naija Ratels, and Bayelsa Queens to play with chances to still gather points which will help us positively.”
The draw made it consecutive draws for Delta Queens after also playing out a 0-0 draw with Edo Queens in its opening game on Monday.
The team will next play Nasarawa Amazons on Thursday.
