After defeats to Delta Queens, Sunshine Queens, and FC Robo Queens which ensured that they will be out of contention for the league title and Total CAF Women’s Champions League, Edo Queens suffered their fourth straight defeat at the ongoing Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Super Six with a 4-0 loss to Rivers Angels on Friday at Otunba Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.
Vivian Ikechukwu headed Rivers Angels in front off an Alice Ogebe’s cross in the tenth minute.
Alice Ogebe doubled their lead in the 31st minute after rounding off two Edo Queensdefender before slotting the ball into the back of the net.
Oghenebrume Ikehua scored her third and fourth goals in the 2021 NWFL Premiership Super Six to extend Rivers Angels’ lead to four.
The Port Harcourt-based side moved to the top of the table with eight points from four games after playing a game more than FC Robo Queens and Delta Queens (both with seven points).
Edo Queens are yet to pick any point from four games and will hope to pick their first point in their final game on Sunday against Bayelsa Queens.
