Darts player, Ololade Adeyemi of Team Ogun won Gold in 701 Female Event, at the ongoing Edo 2020, 20th National Sports Festival, on Thursday 8th April 2021 at Imaguero College, Sapele Road, Benin City.
Ogun Gold, Kwara sliver, and Edo state bronze.
In football, Team Lagos defeated Team Kano 3-1 with goals from Akinkunmi Hassan, Godwin Odibo, and Isa Saheed’s penalty. Felix Odibo scored Team Delta’s solitary goal.
For Swimming 8000 Freestyle Men’s Final, Delta wins gold, Rivers wins Silver and Edo takes home the Bronze.
Ndidi Alonu of Delta State defeats Emmanuel of Imo State in Kickboxing Semi-final -81 kg to qualify for the finals.
Albert Washak of Team Kano, who has been nicknamed Big Show by the fans, powered to a Quarterfinal win over Team Rivers Queen James in the women’s +70kg class in kickboxing.
The day started with Team Gombe female beach volleyball team beating team Plateau in their second game of the festival. Their Wednesday first match ended abruptly as one of the players needed medical attention. They were able to cover that up with a 3-0 win over team Plateau today.
Another step forward was recorded as Team Gombe’s male chess team drew against team Cross River while their female counterpart lost against the host Team Edo.
Also, Team Gombe’s 69kg boxer advanced to the semi-finals to be played on Saturday while 49kg boxer will be gunning for a place in the finals tomorrow.
In their second match of the event, Team Gombe’s Basketball team recorded another important win against the host state team Edo to continue their hundred percent start in the festival. Their next game will be tomorrow against team Kwara before they square up in what will be a repeat of the Team Jam Basketball Tourney final in Lagos back in 2019, on Monday in their final match.
Meanwhile, it was a bad day in the office for Team Gombe’s swimming athletes as they failed to secure another medal to their already secured three bronze medals.
Kokowa Semi-finals; Usman Hasan of Edo State defeats Progress Benson of Rivers state.
Team Imo grabbed three gold medals and a Bronze in Taekwondo.
This means that Team Imo now has six gold medals, two silver, and two bronze medals.
Taekwondo has accounted for five gold medals.
Scrabble got a single gold medal to make it six gold medals.
Cycling got a silver medal alongside judo.
Judo and Taekwondo got a bronze each.
Team Nasarawa won their fourth medal in trado-sport, Langa, in the Kawoshi team event.
The team settled for the bronze medal after coming behind Katsina State in the semis.
Team Nasarawa female Karate athlete, Chioma Ani, won Gold Medal in the Women’s +68kg category.
She defeated her Edo State counterpart, Rahmat Momoh, to clinch Nasarawa State’s first Gold Medal at the ongoing 20th National Sports Festival.
Team Nasarawa has now won five medals so far, four of which are bronze.
