FC Johansen have lost their 22-year-old shot stopper Edmund Bangura.
Bangura gave up the ghost in the early hours of Friday at the Freetown hospital.
Club president Isha Johansen say results of Saturday’s autopsy on the players mortal remains indicate he was killed by an enlarged heart provoked by Hypertension while family members say he died from Asthma and Hypertension.
The goalkeeper joined the club at 12 and his performances during his 10 year stint has made him an elite component of the team.
“It is a sad day for us, he was one of our and longest serving players, one of his relations informed us of his dead”:President Isha Johansen told the BBC.
Edmund was fully involved in the activities of the club three weeks ago before football activities were halted due to the outbreak CoronaVirus pandemic which has infected 40 persons without casualties in the country.
Bangura will be burried in the presence of a few family members this Sunday.
Serra Leone has adopted rigorous measures to combat the spread of the CoronaVirus thus making it impossible for more than 10 persons to attend the funeral given some suspect he was killed by Covid-19.
His former colleagues at FC Johansen will not attend the funeral but have taken an initiative to sign on his gloves which will be placed in his coffin before burial.
