2018/19 league 1 winners UMS of Loum start their title defence against resilient 2018 Cameroon cup winners Eding Sport of the Lekie.
This game is coming at a time when UMS have changed managers 4 times in 5 months.
Union Movement Sportive of Loum is on the back drop of a total spanking in the hands of Stade Renard of Melong and have to look for a victory to have their fans chairing about the title defence at least.
For Eding Sport, it would be to regain top form with some huge signings made in the transfer window. Eding would look to overturn the vision of that opening day 1-0 defeat against YOSA, to begin a journey which would see them move above mid table to challenge for the title they won in 2017.
Head to Head
In their last six encounters, Eding Sport have had the upper hand;
2017: Eding 3-2 UMS 2-1 Eding
2018: UMS 0-0 Eding Sport
Eding Sport 2-0 UMS
2019: UMS 0-0 Eding Sport
Eding Sport 1-1 UMS
From the troubles rocking the holders – it is fair to say Eding might sneak one over them.
Performance last season
UMS of Loum qualified in 3rd place from group B in the regular season. During the championship playoff, they had an impressive run to the title ahead of Cotonsport.
Eding Sport ended their season with a skin of the teeth escape above the relegation zone in the regular season in group B. They ended their season at 6th on the log, just ahead of latter relegated Unisport.
Players to watch
Former Stade Renard of Melong midfielder Simplice Dorcas is definitely one to keep an eye on. He is facing his former club.It would interesting to see who wins the midfield battle between the new recruit and Joel Etouge of UMS.
Nicolas Abanda Koa of UMS of Loum and Dooh Alain Moukoko of Eding Sport is another to have an eye an on.
For UMS of Loum some players would feel they have to vindicate themselves after not showing up in the Supercup last Sunday. Vitus Amougui would look to pick out pockets of space and feed Ayuk Vidal upfront.
