Ethiopia’s Sintayehu Lesesse emerged as the winner of 2019 Access Bank Lagos City Marathon held on Saturday February 2, 2019 in Lagos, south west Nigeria. The Ethiopian won the 4th edition of the Marathon Race with a time of 2:17.32secs. Lesesse found the energy to go past Kenya’s Joshua Kipkori to win the star prize of $50,000.
In other categories, Meleka Meseret Dinke from Ethiopia became the first female runner to cross the finish line. The first Nigerian to cross the finish line was GIDEON GOYET. He ran 2 hours and 30 minutes to cart home with N3million prize money. The second and third place Nigerians will go home with N2million and N1million respectively Courtesy of Access Bank, the sponsor of the Marathon.
For the Marathon prize money, first 10 (Male), everyone on this list will receive a Credit Alert from $8,000 to $50,000. The Prize money totalled $185,000.
