Former Super Eagles forward, Chinedu Obasi Ogbuke was the hero for Swedish side AIK as he produced a man of the match display after netting one and setting up another to help his side to a 2-0 win over visiting Helsingborgs IF.
The former Schalke04 of Germany goal poacher was well involved from the blast of the whistle as he helped set up his side’s opening goal after feeding captain Anton Seletros to make it 1-0 on the half-hour mark.
The 33-year-old then made sure the point was safe in the bag as he netted his 4th league strike of the campaign 10 minutes from time to make it 2-0 and help his side record their 10th win of the season.
The win further strengthens AIK’s stronghold on European qualification as they remain second on the table with 34 points, one behind table-toppers Malmo who have played one game less.
Swiss Super League
FC Luzern and Nigerian forward, Blessing Chibuike scored from the spot in their opening 2-0 victory against FC St. Gallen 1879.
Former Gorica striker broke the deadlock in the 87th minute after he calmly slotted home from the spot to give his side a deserved lead before Christian Schneuwly sealed the victory with a strike in added time as they bagged all three points in the opening day of the league season.
The 23-year-old moved from Ashdod in Israel to join FC Luzern in the 2018 summer window after previously playing for Olimpija Ljubljana in Slovenia.
Many will be looking forward to seeing what the young Nigerian striker has to offer this season.
Nigerian international Peter Eneji showed why he can be the right man to lead FK Senica this new season when he came off the bench to mark his debut for the club with two well-taken strikes in their 3-1 win over AS Trencin.
The former Super Eagles Team B star, who only just joined the club last week, was named among the substitutes as the visitors took a 1-0 half time lead courtesy of a David Depetris strike.
Clearly not impressed by his side’s first-half performance, head coach Michal Scasny introduced the Nigerian on the resumption with the former Akwa United star making his first competitive home bow.
The substitution did, however, prove to be a masterstroke as the 20-year-old equalized eight minutes after the hour mark after being fed by Trenton Yenne before he then completed the turnaround nine minutes from time, this time lashing on to a Roberto Dias assist to put his side 2-1 up.
The Nigerian was however denied a hat-trick on his debut as Frank Castaneda converted from 12 yards right on the dot of 90 minutes to seal an emphatic 3-1 win for the hosts.
