It was a big win for the Nigerian men senior basketball team, D’Tigers as they defeated Mali 76-56 to close their 2021 FIBA Afrobasket qualifying campaign on a winning note.
The Nigerian showed their class against the Malians from start to finish with a 20 points blow out.
D’Tigers won the 1st quarter 24-8, second quarter 18-17 and third quarter 20-16 but lost the fourth quarter 14-15.
With about 4mins to go, Ike Diogu recorded his first double-double 20pts and 11 rebounds, Obi Emegano scored 8 points and 8 rebounds.
Michael Patrick recorded 10 points and 3 rebounds while Ike Iroegbu recorded 7 points and 4 rebounds for D’Tigers.
With 8 points, 10 rebounds, 1 steals and 3 blocks, Ibrahim Djambo was the top performer for the Malians why Ike Diogu with 20 points and 11 rebounds was the top performer for Nigeria
It was a 6-0 for D’Tigers in the qualifiers, as they finished top of group D and also the first team to qualify for the 2012 Afrobasket.
