Reports emerging from Congolese media outlet CongoProfond site say the bus which was promised the Leopards of the DR Congo upon qualification for the 2019 AFCON will soon be handed to the team.
The country’s president who doubles as the first sports promoter in the country head of state, Felix Tshisekedi had promised to get a new team bus for the Leopards when they picked up their qualification ticket for last year’s AFCON in Egypt.
Despite the shambolic display from coach Florent Ibenge and his team in the final tournament, the president is set to keep his part of the bargain.
The same source say the bus will arrive DR Congo’s port city of Boma in the days ahead and handed to the team by president Tshisekedi.
If all go as planned this bus will be the second purchased for the national teams in four years.
When the country claimed it’s second African nations championship in 2016 in Rwanda, they were handed a bus.
DR Congo’s senior men’s selection have placed their fans on a 44 year and counting wait for their third AFCON trophy.
