Former Canon of Yaounde boss Dieudonne Nke of UMS of Loum will look to keep his side motivated this Sunday when they face a club he must hold in high esteem.

Struggling Canon travel to Limbe on a run of, one win in the last 5 games. Canon suffered a defeat at home to YOSA in match day 8 of the Cameroon League One championship on Wednesday.

UMS on the other hand is unbeaten since the appointment of Nke as coach of the club after round three matches. He is coach of UMS for the third time in his career.

This Sunday’s game at the middle farms stadium in Limbe is a special one for coach Nke. The gaffer began his career as a coach with Canon of Yaounde in 1996 as the then deputy coach to Jean Paul Akono.

He helped the club win their last league title in 2002 and has had three spells as coach of the “KpaKpum”.

Nke’s UMS picked up an interesting 2 nil win away to AS Fortuna on Wednesday and will be looking to build on that as host in Limbe.

The current league 1 champions are just outside the top three spots on the table but remain within touching distance of leader’s Cotonsport of Garoua going into this round of matches.

Nke helped UMS to a second spot finish in the 2018 season but was controversially axed and replaced by coach Laurent Djam who won the league a year later.

The former Panthère Nde and Aigle Royal boss has a chance to add salts in the wounds of his former club and put his current employer’s in a position to be counted amongst contenders.

This game promises to be an emotional one for the gaffer whose 23 year old coaching career began at Canon Yaounde.
