Drogba scored 39 goals in 80 Ligue 1 appearances in three seasons with Guingamp and one season with Marseille.
His rival Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored 113 goals in 122 Ligue 1 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain, winning four league titles unlike Drogba who failed to win any.
Drogba was delighted with the recognition and payed tribute to all the great strikers who have played in the French Ligue 1.
“Wow, what recognition from the fans, thank you for allowing me experience these incredible emotions. Great respect to all strikers who played in the French Championship,” the Ivorian said.
The French Ligue 1 has had some great strikers like Pedro Pauleta, Karim Benzema, Fernando Morientes and Edison Cavani in the last 20 years, which makes Drogba’s recognition even more special.
