The last round qualifiers in the SW Region for the Cup of Cameroon have been programmed for this Saturday and Sunday with three matches on offer. The draws for the last phase of the qualifiers took place this Tuesday at the FECAFOOT office in Buea.
There is a strong battle between favourite Option Sports Limbe against Continental. Option Sports had to work for their victory in their last game against a stubborn Mt Cameroon FC. Just one goal was enough to see Option qualify for the next round.
For Continental, the team qualified for this last round as the best loser after losing their game against Best Stars on post-match penalties. The team loss against Best Stars brought Continental’s unbeaten run to an end. The team before the defeat had not lost any game in more than 12 months.
It should be recalled that Option Sports is looking at making a back-to-back qualification for the Cup of Cameroon after doing so last year, though the competition was abandoned due to the COVID-19.
In the other fixture, Best Stars Academy and EEMSA will lock horns for one of the three spots up for grabs. Eteki Esoh Memorial Sports Academy, EEMSA booked their ticket for this round after defeating NQSA (twice) by 2 goals to 1. And according to EEMSA officials, they are looking to carry the team as far as they can go.
Best Stars on their part is a household name in the competition and also in the Region. The team will have to prove their worth against a strong EEMSA side. Best Stars had to go through a penalty shootout (5-4) to win Continental FA in the last round after the game had ended 1-1.
