29-year-old Congolese striker Cédric Bakambu has reached out to denizens of three neighborhoods in Kinshasa currently in a lockdown following the outbreak of the CoronaVirus pandemic.
The former Villarreal forward has earmarked three localities in Kinshasa as areas to benefit from food and sanitary supplies to enable the families properly feed while respecting the measures to combat the spread of the CoronaVirus.
Speaking from France where he is equally experiencing a lockdown with his family, Bakambu sent a clear and emotional message.
“We are working on providing aid to my people. We are prioritizing the purchase and distribution of non perishable food stuffs.This is to enable it last for some weeks as it is being consumed. We will distribute food stuffs and other aids to the identified areas and we will buy these items from Kinshasa and begin distribution as soon as possible. “:Bakumbu stated.
The France-born DR Congo international is currently on the books of Beijing Guoan but the outbreak of the CoronaVirus especially in China which has been the epicenter of it has prevented his return to the Asian country.
The ex Bursaspor striker has scored 13 goals in 29 appearances for the Leopards of DR Congo having switched allegiance after representing France at Under 18, 19 and 20 categories.
He joins a good number of footballers that have made a similar move since the outbreak of the CoronaVirus pandemic in December 2019 which has killed over 191, 791 as at April 24th,2020.
