The 2019-2020 football season in the Benin Republic has been canceled by the country football governing body, Beninese Football Federation, FBF, can report.

The cancellation was confirmed on the FBF website on July 1, 2020. FBF through its Emergency Committee definitively ended the 2019-2020 season in Benin. It was through a press release that the body headed by Mathurin De Chacus made public the decision to cancel the championships and all statutory competitions of the FBF.

The reason given for canceling the season is the sanitary situation which has not improved since the last outing of the FBF. So as not to jeopardize the health of the players in football, she, therefore, decided to outrightly cancel the season.

“The immediate consequence of this decision is the cancellation of the 2019-2020 season, which means that no team goes up and that no one goes down. The same clubs for Leagues 1, 2, and 3 in the 2019-2020 season are therefore eligible for the 2020-2021 season, ”reads the FBF press release.

It should be noted that the various championships have been stopped since mid-March. The 2019-2020 season will therefore not come to an end.
