COVID-19: Dream Stars Ladies Proceed on Break

Lagos based Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership side; Dream Stars Ladies have embarked on a month break in line with the directive of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) that all football activities be shut down promptly.

This was confirmed in a release made available by the club chairman, Abolore Abdulrahman.

“Dream Stars Ladies’ management announced break for the team due to #COVIDー19 Pandemic. It’s our responsibility to protect the lives of our players.” The release read.

The team is expected back in April, pending further directives from NFF and Lagos State Football Association (LSFA).

It should also be noted that LSFA recently announced the closure of all sports facilities in Lagos due to CoronaVirus pandemic.

Dream Stars Ladies were preparing for their 2019-2020 NWFL Premiership season opener against Bayelsa Queens before the shut down of football activities across the country which makes it imperative for major leagues in the country to be on hold. The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) and NWFL Premiership will not resume until further directives from the football ruling body in Nigeria all in the bid to curb the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria.
