Ghana Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has planned to support athletes for the next six months due to the damming effects of Covid-19 on sports.
The Chief Executive Officer of National Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Mr. Justin Koduah Frimpong has disclosed that his outfit is ready to support athletes for the next six months.
In an interview on Oyerepa FM in Kumasi, Mr. Koduah said, there is an ongoing discussion with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Ministry Of Youth and Sports (MOYs) to support clubs financially. “By the end of this month, we hope to have concluded negotiations with the NSA and MOYS on the number of persons we can enroll whether 1000 or 500 and how they will share among the disciplines”
Mr Kodua added that their outfit will extend the list of beneficiaries to Footballers and athletes in the National teams as well by using the community improvement module under the YEA.
“Our contribution to Ghana Football in this Covid-19 time is not for only clubs, but also national teams under the community improvement module”
Mr. Justin Koduah believes this initiative will help to ease pressure on athletes and sports in general because of the advent of COVID-19.
