The National Sports Authority has closed down the Cape Coast stadium from all sporting activities and other public use due to the outbreak of the deadly disease, corona virus.
In an interview with Asante Fokuo of ATL FM in Cape Coast, the regional sports development officer (RSDO) Mr. Osafo Adjei explained that the decision was taken due to the President’s order to ban all public activities in the country.
“In consultation with the National Sports Authority and due to the President’s order to ban all public activities, we decided to close the place.” He said
He added that since the stadium is considered as a security zone, there is the need to take such a decision.
” Stadium is considered as a security zone because it can take up to 15,000 people, therefore there is the need to take such decisions for the safety of the masses”. He added
He however explained that appropriate measures have been put in place both at the restaurant and the clinic to ensure that those who patronize are safe.
He therefore appealed to the general public and the people of Cape Coast to bear with them since we are not in the normal times.
