Intermediate Lions of Cameroon and Cotonsport of Garoua full-back has warned against complacency on their part ahead of his side’s second leg CAF Confederation cup play-offs fixture against Unisport of Sokode on Sunday at the Roumde Adja Stadium in Garoua.
The defender who failed to make the cut for last Sunday’s comfortable two-nil win away in Lome joined the returning party in the first training session upon the team’s return to Garoua.
Speaking to the kick442.com team this Thursday at the Ngalgibe complex in Garoua the versatile defender expressed his delight to be back after assuring he was fully fit.
“I am back, by the grace of God I may have a chance to join the team, I will be glad because I am ready to join the team even on Sunday,”.
Cotonsport go into the second leg of the tie with a massive psychological advantage and a two-nil cushion from the first-leg encounter.
Bawak thinks this could be a risky situation but believes the technical staff in place is apt to manage this situation especially with the quality in the team.
“We haven’t sealed qualification. Winning by two goals in the first game is no assurance of qualification. It may bring greater pressure but we are lucky that we have coach Souleymanou and Haman who understand how to manage these types of events,” Bawak told kick442.com.
The defender has been out of action since picking up a knock while away with the intermediate Lions of Cameroon in September but says he is fit and now available for selection.
Cotonsport have a two-nil lead from the first-leg encounter recorded last weekend and will be hoping to build on this to secure qualification for the next round of the competition.
Cotonsport vs. Unisport Sokode: December 6th. 15:00 CAT/2:00 GMT. Stade Roumde Adja, Garoua.
But, before we look ahead to this weekend’s game, let’s take a quick trip back to Lome last week when Cotonsport edged Unisport to win three points.
