An official of Cotonsport of Garoua has told kick442.com that social media tracks and publications announcing the departure of the great Kamilou Daouda from the Club are unfounded and should be treated as fake.
Origin of the story:
Earlier this week, tracks flooded the social stating that Kamilou Daouda will leave Cotonsport at the end of the current season and the Club plans to erect a statue in honor of their all-time top scorer outside their main stadium in Garoua.
Adamou Saliou who is head of media and marketing division at the Club believes these reports are far from the Club’s thoughts at the moment.
“Kamilou is our player. A respected part of our history. He hasn’t played much games this season because he underwent an operation and is still recovering. We expect him back in training once he is fully fit but reports of his departure are untrue”
The 33-year old striker current recovering from a major surgery has also distant himself from the reports.
Kamilou joined the Club in the build-up to the 2005-2006 season and has gone on to become the Clubs all-time lead scorer with 128 goals in just over 300 appearances across ten seasons sandwiched with short stints abroad.
The Niger International has featured in just three games this season havin undergone surgery to sort out a health problem.
Kamilou who top scored for Cotonsport in their 2008 dream CAF Champions League run with eight goals that helped the Club finish second to Al Ahly of Cairo.
Kamilou has won two Cup of Cameroon trophies, four Elite One titles and the golden boots award in not less than than four occasions with the latest being in 2018.
He has not only cemented his place in the hearts of Cotonsport fans and in the hearts of the fans of Cameroon League one followers.
The striker is in his eleventh season on the books of Cotonsport of Garoua.
