Cotonsport of Garoua has suffered a one_nil defeat to AS Otôho of Congo, in their last group C game of the CAF Confederation cup.
Cotonsport came into Sunday’s game already eliminated from the competition, after picking up just three draws from their last five group C games.
The game at the Roumde Adjia stadium on Sunday evening, was initially scheduled for 2pm local time, but was pushed forward to 8pm, after the Congolese arrived Garoua late.
Otôho who themselves were already eliminated from the competition prior to their game in Garoua, went ahead just seven minutes into the game, when 25_year_old midfielder Mamadou Cissé slotted home from a Jaures Etou_Mban’s assist.
Though goal scorer Mamadou Cissé picked up an injury at the 20th minute, and was replaced by Alou Bagayoko, cotonsport failed to turn things around, as their series of dismal performances continues.
In fact, the 16_time Cameroon league winners are now on a run of nine games in all competitions without a win. Their last win dates back to December 05, 2021, when they defeated FC Nouadhibou 2#0 at the Reunification stadium in Douala.
Since then, the cotonites have four defeats, Al Masry, TP Mazembe, Eding Sport and AS Otoho, and have recorded a whopping six draws against Al Masry, AS Otôho, TP Mazembe, Renaissance of Ngoumou, and Union de Mouvement sportif of Loum.
