Golden Eaglet of Nigeria lost their final encounter at the WAFU B tournament holding in Togo to Cote D’voire 3-2 on Monday.
The two teams who had qualified for the U17 African Cup of Nations in Morocco by the virtue of making it to the final of the regional tournament.
And as expected the two teams went all out to emerge the ultimate winners of the cup, but it was Côte D’voire who stood out with a great display to clinch the title.
Sindou scored from a corner to reward the team for their display in the 15th minutes of the game and give the Ivorians the lead.
It could have been 2-0 after Charles Likpa’s shot, but Goalkeeper Destiny of Nigeria came to the rescue.
The scoreline ended that way in the first half, but Ivory Coast didn’t drop their hold on the game as Abdrumane Konate made it goal number 2 in the 59th minutes.
Even when the trophy was in the bag, Côte D’voire continued to push and in no time Substitute Seydou Traore scored the third for the Ivorians in the 84th minutes.
However, Ahmed Abdullahi scored in the 90th minutes from a freekick to reduce the deficit for Nigeria.
Abdullahi was not done yet as he scored his second in added time in what looked like a comeback for the Eaglet, but it was little too late as the referee blew the final whistle to end the game.
