Nigeria’s Falconets made it three wins out of three group games to top Group C at ongoing Costa Rica 2022 FIFA U-20 Women World Cup.
The Nigerian U-20 Ladies had recorded a 1-0 win over France and South Korea ahead of its final group game with Canada which resulted in a 3-1 triumph.
The West African side had to come from a goal down to secure its third win of the tournament after Kaila Novak had given Canada an early lead in the second minutes of play.
The goal was the first to be conceded by Nigeria at the tournament.
Esther Onyenezide equalised for Nigeria from the penalty spot in the 24th minute.
The FC Robo Queens player also gave Nigeria the lead for the first time in the game from the penalty spot in the 32nd minute.
Chioma Olise scored Nigeria’s third goal in the additional minutes of the second half off Rofiat Imuran’s assists.
Already qualified Nigeria finished top of Group C with a maximum of nine points ahead of France (6 points), South Korea (3 points), and Canada (0 point).
Nigeria will face the second-placed team in Group D (The Netherlands) in the quarter-final.
Group C runners-up, France will meet Group D winners, Japan in the quarter-final.
