Young Mambas of Mozambique triumphed over the Young Warriors of Namibia to win their first COSAFA under twenty championship in Sunday’s final at the Nelson Mandela Bay.
Mozambique’s Dercio Augusto’s lone goal made sure the Mambas take the COSAFA under twenty trophy before the Warriors.
Augusto’s well hit free-kick was put into the box, and somehow went through everybody and into the back of the net.
Mozambique becomes the fifth team to win the tournament after Zambia, Madagascar, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
Mozambique and Namibia have qualified for the AFCON by virtue of getting to the finals.
In the third place encounter, Angola secured their third bronze medal in a row after beating former champions Zambia 2-1 some hours before the final match.
Benvindo Afonso and tournament joint top-scorer Ambrosini Salvador gave Angola a two goal lead before Muma Mumba reduced the deficit for Zambia.
