Amajimbos of South Africa were on the winning side on Tuesday at the Gelvandale Stadium as they defeated Angola in their second match of the restarted COSAFA under seventeen men’s championship.
Keaviano Francis’ 61st minutes goal gave South Africa the hard earn win after Angola had equalised at halftime break to lead in the 56st minutes.
It was not until the dead of half time that Mduduzi Shabalala scored for South Africa after what seemed a scrappy first half.
Shabalala made it a goal to South Africa as his crisp run into the Angola area saw him beating Canji in defence with a sumptuous step-over before he unleashed a shot into the top left of the net with Catungue well beaten.
Erasmus conceded eleven minutes into the second half after his near-costly oversight in leaving his goal to concede a corner, which Kossi took and sent the ball looping over and straight into the keeper’s net as South Africa stray in defence.
Five minutes later, the Angolans were the guilty party of a brittle defence as Francis chased down a long ball into Angola’s attacking third, which despite bouncing prodigiously, he was able to send over the head of Catangue for the goal.
Dopolo of South Africa got his second yellow which results in a red card for his dangerous tackle on Hequele.
However, Amajimbos held on to win the tie.
