29-year-old Tunisian international midfielder Wahbi Khazri has remembered his roots at this very challenging periods.
The native of Ajaccio in Corsica, France has not forgotten the region of his birth as the deadly Coronavirus pandemic continues its ravaging effects.
Ajaccio and Bastia are the two main cities in the French Corsica region, also known as the Island of Beauty [l’île de Beauté].
The Tunisian international midfielder made a donation of €17,000 to the Bastia hospital to help in the fight against the spread of the Covid-19, according to reports from France 3 Corse.
Though born in Ajaccio, Khazri played for Bastia from 2009 to 2014, making a 171 league appearances with 31 goals, before making the switch to Bordeaux.
According to recent reports from government sources, about 40 people have lost their lives in the French Corsica region as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Khazri who currently plays for Saint-Etienne since joining them in 2018 from Sunderland after a loan spell with Rennes, has won 53 caps for the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia, with 19 goals to his name.
