28 year old Congolese winger Dieumerci Ndongala has been accused of theft in Belgium and arrested by police in Belgium on Tuesday.
Later investigation could hardly find any serious evidence over the accusation, pushing some people to even think that the act had a racial undertone.
“When the store manager arrived, I asked her if she saw me stealing anything, she said no…but they didn’t found a lot of labeled clothes and they think I am responsible. It a big humiliation and it’s the first time it’s happening in this city,” the Genk winger said.
He was later seen leaving the store, since they could not prove anything against him, though they claim he was caught on a hidden camera as reported by Belgian television.
“I am extremely shocked. By showing a video of me on social media networks, I realized it’s something that happens to a lot of other people every day,” the former Standard Liege player said.
The Congolese has vowed to fight for freedom of expression. He has pleaded to be given the chance to go about his normal life like any other normal person without being the centre of attraction or being targeted.
