51 year old Uruguayan born ex-footballer, Gustavo Augusto Poyet Domínguez has been picked to be the next head coach of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.
Our sources say football authorities have selected the former Girondin of Bordeaux head coach to bring on board his 12 years old Managerial experience to the Lions Den.
The former Chelsea, Tottenham and Real Zaragoza star left France this morning on the instructions of Cameroon’s minister of Sports and Physical Education Professor Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, he is expected in Cameroon in the hours ahead.
“The MINSEP is okay with the Uruguayan” our source who pleaded anonymous hinted.
Poyet began coach as assistant manager of English side Leeds United in 2007 and recently managed French top flight side Girondin of Bordeaux between
January 2018 till August that year.
In all, the tough personality manager with spells at Leeds United,Brighton,Sunderland, AEK Athens,Real Betis, Shanghai Shenhua and Girondin of Bordeaux has recorded 151 victories out of the 353 games he has been in charge of as a coach, but he has never managed in Africa.
Cameroon wants to replace Clarence Seedorf with Poyet, a football man from South America but with a huge knowledge of European football. He has been in the game as a professional since he started his journey in 1988 with Gronoble.
Poyet will arrive Cameroon this Tuesday to finalize negotiations and pen a contract with his new employers.
Former Leicester city coach Sven Goran Erikson came saw but failed to seal a deal before Clarence Seedorf was appointed in August 2018.
