After 41 years since it was formed, Comoros may be just be at the next African Cup of Nations, qualifying for their first major tournament.
The Island country are one point away from qualification for the 2021 African Cup of Nations to be held in Cameroon.
A 2-1 win against Kenya in a group G match on Sunday pushed the country on its way to making history.
Comoros have eight points after a draw against former African champions, Egypt, a win away against Togo and a draw and Sunday’s win against Kenya.
In the match, Comoros took the lead first ahead of Kenya as El Fardou Ben Mohamed with a fine finish gave the home side a deserved lead.
However, they were pegged back in the first half as Cliff Nyakeya continued his impressive form with the Harambee Stars equalizing in Moroni.
There were celebrations in the Comoros half after Faiz Mattoir scored the winner for the home side to maintain top spot in Group G with eight points from four games.
Coach Amir Abdou’s side have two matches left to play against Togo and Egypt and a point is all they need to make qualify for 2021 AFCON.
Besides, Pharaohs of Egypt will be doing the Les Coelacantes of Comoros a lot of favour if its defeats Togo.
