Clinton Elimita Ekole is one of the graduates of Cameroon’s juggernaut Football Academy, CINYODEV, and due to his rapid development in Finland, the lad deserves a follow up with the junior selections of Cameroon at least – before he is lost to the Finnish national selection.
Aged 16, Clinton was snapped by boyhood club CINYODEV Football Club where his development was outstandingly quicker than other kids, and he was an instant hit due to his versatility, despite his preferred position being at the heart of the midfield (CDM).
After three seasons with CINYODEV, Clinton Elimita was invited for a trail in Budapest, Hungary, in what was his first traveling experience abroad by 2017.
The youngster wasn’t however successful due to external factors like the weather and a whole different football culture from the one he grew with, in Cameroon.
After a failed trail in Hungary, Elimita’s agent secured a move to Finnish fourth-tier side FC Kontu, where a the youngster matured into a super-duper player for two seasons. Despite his age, the Buea native had a hand in 14 goals for his team at the Helsinki Group 2 Kolomonen division.
Having caught the eyes, Elimita was landed by another Finnish club Tikkurilan Palloseura. The 21-year-old and his teammates slightly missed out on promotion to the third-tier, but once again, his dominance from the middle of the park was unerring with four goals and 6 assists, leading his side to the Helsinki Cup.
Due to Elimita’s exploits, third-tier side FC Espoo chased and got his pen on paper on March 15, 2020, but he has managed only three friendlies due to the break of the Coronavirus pandemic.
At Espoo, Elimita is one of only two foreigners forming part of a 20 players squad depth, and the teenager will be set to play at the 2.800 Leppavaaran capacity Stadium, his biggest ever, when the season resumes.
As per reports from Finland, the player’s development is closely being followed by their youth selections.
Just like prominent CINYODEV graduate and Cameroon international center forward, Ndip Tambe helped the indomitable Lions on the road to Cameroon’s 5th AFCON triumph in 2017, Elimita Clinton might be the next big hit for country.
