Former Indomitable Lion of Cameroon lead trainer and winner of the 1988 African cup of Nations title Claude Marie Leroy has been sacked from his role as trainer of the Hawks of Togo.
The Togolese Football Federation (FTF) announced they are parting ways with the 73-year old French-man this Monday just after their 1-2 home defeat to the Harambe Stars of Kenya this afternoon in Lome.
The former DR Congo trainer was appointed trainer of the Hawks of Togo in April 2016 and in close to five years in office, Le Roy only won nine of 35 games, losing 14 and playing a tie in 12 outings.
Despite leading nations to six different AFCON tournaments, the former Congo Republic coach failed to make the 2019 and now 2021 tournament with an exciting generation of Togolese players.
Togo finished bottom of their group in the recent qualifiers, picking just two points from a possible 18.
There is a vacancy at the helm of the Togolese national selection awaiting the next move from the national football federation.
