As players, coaches, and club officials continue to observe the CoronaVirus (COVID-19) pandemic induced break, Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL Premiership players in a similar manner are anticipating the kick-off of next season after COVID-19 pandemic.
Former Delta Queens goalkeeper who recently joined Edo Queens, Christy Ohiaeriaku opined that away games will be difficult as hosts will fight hard to secure victory at the expense of the visitors.
“Our group, Group A, is a very hard group to be sincere because of the big teams in the group but not hard for Edo Queens. The abridged league format is still okay based on the current climate and situation of the league and country. For our first league game next season against Abia Angels, we will try to get a favorable result. The away team will surely fight us hard, but we will surely get a win.” She told kick442.com
Christy Ohiaeriaku is one of the players in the league that has foreign experience after playing for IFK Ostersund in Sweden. The former FC Robo Queens, Tokas Queens, Osun Babes, Rivers Angels, Confluence Queens, and Delta Queens goalkeeper asserted that she is training indoors in order to stay fit during the current lockdown.
“This coronavirus is very dangerous, and I support the postponement of the league due to the virus because health is wealth. I place myself on indoor training and also do ball work with my personal coach.”
The NWFL before the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown rebranded the league with new logo and names, Christy spoke on the rebranding and she felt about it.
“It is a welcome development and I really commend the league board led by Mrs. Aisha Falode. They are really doing well. The new logo is a beautiful one. The league board did well last season. I will only advise them to please work harder to get sponsors in order to help our league grow.”
The fashion designer is also optimistic about her future prospects with Super Falcons.
“In the next five years, I see myself been married and my kids will be watching me keeping for Super Falcons of Nigeria.” She concluded.
Christy Ohiaeriaku and Delta Queens kept two clean sheets in six league games last season as they finished third in Group A with eight points behind league Champions, Rivers Angels, and FC Robo Queens.

Pelican Stars FC, Nasarawa Amazons FC, Sunshine Queens FC, Bayelsa Queens FC, Abia Angels FC, Confluence Queens FC, and Dream Stars Ladies.
