The head coach of the Under-20 national selection of Cameroon Christophe Ousmanou revealed his team will have full attention on activities in their match-day two game against Congo Republic on Thursday in Malabo.
Speaking in a pre-match conference on the experienced trainer revisited the his side’s ineffectiveness in front of goal but expressed optimism going forward.
“It is going to be our second game. We will face Congo with our quality. I told you from the situation that we could end up being our own problem. If we were at 80% of our best we would not be in difficulties. Yesterday we missed many goals, we hope its not the same situation tomorrow. We hope we can take our chances tomorrow,” Coach Christophe Ousmanou stated.
Cameroon squandered a handful of chances and picked up a point in a frustrating 1-1 draw against DR Congo in their opening game in the Competition on Tuesday.
That draw has complicated the chances of the team though qualification for the final and the AFCON penciled for next year in Mauritania remains a possibility.
Coach Ousmanou believes qualification is possible.
“We are confident, we hope tomorrow the players will be more efficient in the final third,” he concluded.
Cameroon with one point to their credit from a game so far.
They face pointless Congo Republic who have a game in hand.
A win for the Lions keeps their chance of qualifying for the final alive but its a tricky situation as they will have to watch the last game between Congo Republic and DR Congo to determine group B winners to face Group A winners in the final.
