Indomitable Lions of Cameroon forward Christian Bassogog has responded to his recalled to the national team with a brace of assist in this afternoon’s Chinese Super League relegation playoffs fixture against Guangzhou RF.
The 25-year-old assisted both of his side’s goals in the 2-1 win which gave them the first back to back win this season.
What started as a difficult afternoon for Bassogog and his mates ended up being another in celebration.
Polish midfielder Adrian Mierzejewski put the host ahead in the 30th minute of the game.
Visitors Hernan Jianye responded almost immediately though Feng Boxuan who was on the end of an assist from Christian Bassogog.
Both sides retired to the changing room for the half-time break with all to play for in the second half.
All seems balanced between both sides until the 59th minute when Guangzhou RF were reduced to 10 following the sending off of Zhang Gong.
The game changed in favour of Henan who multiplied their attacking intent with hopes of clinching a second goal.
Central-back Wang Shangyuan benefitted from a second assist of the day from Bassogog to score Henan Jianye’s second of the afternoon in the 70th minute of the game.
In his attempt to seal the game coach brought in Chinese defender Yang Kuo in place of Bassogog in the 86th minute.
Henan protected their 2-1 advantage till the full-time whistle.
It is the Club’s second win in two playoffs games.
They host Guangzhou in the return game on Sunday.
