Former Malian striker of Esteghlal Iran football team, is likely to become an attacker of rival Iranian team, Persepolis, next season.
Iranian media have been reporting since 2 days ago that “Cheick Diabate” from Mali has attracted the attention of the Persepolis side.
Cheick played with Esteghlal from 2019-2021. He was very popular in this squad following the good number of goals he scored to the admiration of fans.
Last year, he played in Qatar’s Al Gharafa team, but he did not have a successful appearance.
Today, Iran’s IRNA news agency wrote that Persepolis club is seriously pursuing the project of recruiting him.
34-year-old Diabate played 52 games and scored 27 goals during his 2-year-stay in Esteghlal.
Esteghlal (Blues) was the champion of the Iranian professional league last season. Persepolis (Reds) was ranked second. These two teams have millions of fans in Iran just like Real Madrid and Barcelona in Spain, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund in Germany.
Pundits say fans of these two teams do not like to exchange players.
