Portuguese outfit, FC Porto says it will be terminating the contract of its Congolese defender Chancel Mbemba over claims of multiple birth certificates link to the defender.
According to recent revelation by Portuguese news organ, Corriero de Manha, the Lisbon based Portuguese giants will get rid of the defender on claims the 27-year-old former Newcastle United man is at least six years older than his original age.
The side believe the man-mountain-esque defender is at least 31 years old.
Management of the 2004 UEFA Champions League winning club say they won’t be extending the contract of the ex-Anderlecht defender that is due to expire in June this year.
These, despite interest from Italian giants and European heavyweights, AC Milan who have shown interest of looing the controversial Congolese star to the San Siro.
Chancel Mbemba joint FC Porto in 2017 and has featured in over a hundred game for the side.
The defender who has over 64 caps for the Leopards of the Democratic Republic of Congo since June 2012, has been controversially making news headlines over fake age documents since 2013.
Investigative reports by American news channel, CNN, in 2013 found out Bemba has four different birth certificates registered of him being born between 1988 and 1994.
The star initially claimed he was born in 1990 but an official of the Congolese Football Federation revealed the defender’s real identification documents including the birth certificate were in 2012, changed to 1991 by the Congolese FA to make the then youngster eligible to represent Congo Kinshasa during the 2012 Summer Olympics in London as an Under23 Congolese player.
But shortly before joining English side Newcastle United in 2016, the defender who represented the Democratic Republic of Congo during the 2017 and 2019 AFCONs in Gabon and Egypt respectively, claimed he was born in 1994.
The controversies has since complicated the hitherto flourishing career of the Congolese star with the latest report expected to serve as fresh destabilizer in his career despite claims of innocence from the former Anderlecht youngster.
