Defending champions of the African Nations Championship CHAN is set to arrive Cameroon Wednesday January 13, 2021.
They are expected to land in Cameroon via the Douala International airport together with 2018 group A team member Guinea.
Morocco is pitted in group B alongside Uganda, Rwanda and maiden participants Togo. Their participation in the Championship maybe threatening to maiden teams based on records penciled.
Their coming to Cameroon is very significant, being the only country that has ever hosted the CHAN and retain the trophy in 2018.
History in the CHAN:
North African giants are appearing for the fourth time at the continental tournament, haven made their debut in 2014 in South Africa. They have only being marked absent during the maiden editor of the CHAN in Ivory Coast.
Morocco got to the quarter finals level four years ago grouped amongst Zimbabwe, Uganda and Burkina Faso in group B. They loss 4-3 thriller after extra time to Nigeria which ended their run that year.
In 2018, Guinea, Sudan and Mauritania constituted group A for Morocco where they launched the tournament against Mauritania January 13, 2018 in Casablanca. They later faced Guinea and concluded group stage matches battling South Sudan.
Coached by Jamal Sellami, 23 players made his list.. Goalkeepers: Anas Zniti, Abdelali Mhamdi, Ahmed Reda Tagnaouti.
Defenders: Mohamed Nahiri, Hamza Semmoumi, Jawad Yamiq, Marouane Hadhoudhi, Badr Banoune, Nayef Aguerd, Abdeljalil Jbira, Zakaria Hachimi.
