The lead trainer of the Intermediate national selection of Zambia Milutin Sredojevic popularly called Micho has reiterated on his side’s desire to achieve a great tournament at the ongoing African Nations Championship against the expectation of doubters.
Speaking during the traditional post-match interview on Wednesday at the Ngeme Omnisport Stadium, Micho was quick to bin talks of dissatisfaction and disappointment from their virgin draw against neighbors Namibia.
“If I am disappointed with the players, I tell them face to face. We tried our best with huge possession. If we want to go far, we have to face the best”. Discussing the side’s objective going forward, Micho was categorical; “Our target is to get to the next stage. We believe from there anything can happen. Everyone has the right to count us off but we believe in ourselves that we can make it to the semi-final and beyond, the 48-years old Serbian trainer stated.”
Zambia who made it four qualification to the knock-out stages of the competition in four participations finished second in group D with five points like Guinea who have a better goal difference.
The Chipolopolo will confront the local Atlas Lions who are holders of the title won in 2018 and winners of group C of the ongoing competition.
Micho has a bit of his own side of the story to be proud about as the qualification to the knock-out stages with Zambia amounts to his first in three attempts.
