A couple of key players would be instrumental if indeed the intermediate Lions plan on conquering the African continent when 15 other teams come charging down with malicious intent from April 4th to 25th.
Simon Omossola (G.K)
Between the sticks, it is hard to look beyond Simon Omossola. Despite the keeper not having made enough appearances at club level, he is oozing confidence inside-out as he represented Cameroon in the 2019 Under-23 AFCON as the first choice goalkeeper. There is no secret of Arroga’s admiration of the goalkeeper as he has been trusted in all three of recent intermediate Lions friendlies against top opposition.
Thomas Etta Bawak (R.B)
Talking of right backs, Etta Bawak is head and shoulders above all in the local Championship. The right back would have to bring on his experience from the 2018 edition of the CHAN to help shut the doors on defensive duties. Bawack Etta is a modern day right back who gallops up and down the channel at will; his goal against PWD in the first round of the Championship equally shows he can help out upfront if need be.
Djob Lidjob (F.B)
A commanding defender with the ability to sense danger and clear, Cameroon’s center-half Djob Lidjob is known for his full bloodied tackles as well as his high intelligence. The Colombe of Dja skipper definitely would be a vital component in Cameroon’s quest for glory.
O’Ojong Mark (C.M)
Entrusted with the armband severally, Mark O’Ojong is a versatile midfielder who has dynamite in his boots to say the very least. The midfield metronome could stick out a leg for a tackle, as well as he can daze the opposition with stylish play and sublime passes. The versatile midfielder, played the competition in 2016 when the intermediate Lions under then head coach Ndoumbe Bosso, made the quarter finals. O’Ojong has four goals to his name with his current club Bamboutos of Mbouda.
Pange Lobe (L.W)
Pange Lobe is an absolute wing wizard when played in a good formation that suits his style. Lobe has five goals for club Bamboutos, and he is a dazzling dribbler who most often makes the right choice in the final third. In the recent friendlies, Lobe has shown he can do the tracking back to help the defence out. Pange Lobe can light up any stadium in the world with his sparkle on one-on-one situations.
Rene Ndi (C.A.M)
A technically gifted craftsman, Rene Ndi is known as the ‘last number 10’ by fans of the Mangwa Boys. Rene Ndi thrives in the roaming position just behind the center forward. In a split second, this little man can ‘pull a rabbit out of the hat’. Ndi has four goals for his club Bamboutos of Mbouda this season.
0Samuel Nlend (F.W)
Nlend Samuel is an ideal forward for the intermediate Lions. On his day, with good service, Samuel Nlend can get the goals goals. Nlend Samuel was equally involved in the CHAN team back in 2016. The latter has scored eight goals this season with Union Sportif of Douala.
