The long-awaited 2020 African Nations Championship is finally here as the first delegation of teams for the tournament arrived Cameroon on Tuesday, December 29.
A 38-man Uganda team touched down at the Nsimalen-Cameroon Airport at 11h local time on Tuesday.
The team moved to its base at Felicia Hotel in Yaoundé to begin preparations for the four-nations Pre-CHAN2020 tournament before the competition proper.
The 25 Uganda cranes of locally based players had a light indoors stretching sessions on Tuesday evening ahead of their first training session at the Omnisport Annex 2 stadium on Wednesday.
The cranes are the first to arrive Cameroon soil for the CHAN 2020 as after the Pre-CHAN tournament the team will remain in Cameroon to continue preparations for the sixth edition of the African Nations Championship penciled for January 17th to February 6th across four cities.
They will face CHAN 2020 host Cameroon in the Pre-CHAN tournament on Friday, before following that up with a game against Zambia and Niger.
The Uganda cranes are in pool B of the CHAN tournament proper alongside Rwanda, Morocco and Togo.
Uganda open their CHAN campaign on January 18th against Rwanda in an eagerly-awaited clash of football foes.
The Uganda cranes are currently in Cameroon with a squad of 25 players but they are expected to make changes in the squad before the start of the competition.
