The Guinean CHAN team yesterday defeated their Rwandan opponent 1-0 in the quarter-finals of the CHAN 2020 to book a semi-final date with Mali.
Despite going a man down in the early stages of the game (14), the Guinean dominated the match and dictated the pace of the game before the Rwandan team was also reduced to ten (50), and on the hour-mark, Molaye Sylla well taken free-kick gave them the win.
The Guinean coach, Mohamed Kanfory Bangoura have now attributed their victory and success in the tournament so far to their superb preparation.
“I believe the result is a matter of preparation. This time around, the preparation for this tournament was superb.” He said.
“The red card tends to be a blessing for my team. It made us changed our tactics and made me galvanise my players to work hard. They listened to my instructions.
“It was an issue of change of strategy. After the red card we changed tactics to reduce pressure on us which ended up in them picking a red card which led to our victory.” He added.
And when asked about his secret of his team, he attributed it to his CAF A License.
“The secret of my team is my qualifications which is a CAF A License.”
Guinea will lock horns with Mali on Wednesday by 4pm for a place in the final.
