The Amavoubi of Rwanda have withdrawned from the African Nations Championship (CHAN), to hold in Cameroon from April 04th to 25th, 2020.
The decision is contained a letter signed by the country’s sports minister, postponing and cancelling Rwanda’s participation to international games and competition.
In the letter, the sports minister, observes that, the decision will help their athletes shun the spread the Corona virus, now declared a pandemic disease by the World Health Organisation, WHO.
Prior to this statement, the Amavoubi of Rwanda had been preparing ahead of the April 4th roundevous in Cameroon. They are in group C alongside Uganda, Togo and Morocco who are also threatening to withdraw because of same reasons.
The confederation of African Football, CAF is yet to react to this decision but the CAF medical committee will be in Cameroon from March 14th to evaluate the situation.
