Ahead of the encounter between the Intermediate Lions of Cameroon and the Leopards of DR Congo, head coach of the lion says lions are ready.
Coach Martin Ndtoungou Mpile was speaking in a press conference 24 hours before the quarter finals of CHAN 2020, pitting Cameroon against DR Congo, he clears the atmosphere saying
“Against our game tomorrow, we are at home and we need to win. For the moment we are calm, the players are well equipped, eventhough the pressure is high, what I can say is we are ready for tomorrow.” Coach Mpile
Speaking about the general situation in the den, the lead trainer says all is in tact and fortune is on the side of the lions.
“I have used about 18 players permanently, but for the rest of the competition, the others can also be involved at a certain point. In a competition like this one, we know that we have six matches. And you have to manage those six matches with a well defined Squad. We are into the fourth game and it is not late for the others who have not yet played a single game. Andoulou had a partial ligament rupture and he needs at least one month on the sideline. It is not really bad, but I think he will be back on the pitch in a months time. For now we have not COVID-19 case in the camp so we are lucky.”
Head-to-head with DR Congo Cameroon has recorded five victories and three draws. This will be a chance for another record. The last encounter between both sides was in 2016 Cameroon beat the DRC in the CHAN 2016.
Japoma Stadium, 8:00pm will be an opportunity for the ninth clash for Cameroon and DR Congo. Congo has two CHAN titles already and are looking for a third under Coach Florent Ibenge.
