Defending champions Morocco have sent Zambia parking in the quarter finals of the African Nations Championship CHAN 2020, played at the Reunification Stadium.
Infront of 6,440 fans this Sunday January 31, 2021, Morocco made a 3#1 to go through to the semifinals of the tournament.
For Morocco, Soufiane Rahimi, Mohammed Ali, Ayoub El Kaabi and Moses Phiri for Zambia. Morocco is through to the semi-finals.
First Half
A sluggish game it was at kick-off, the Atlas Lions of Morocco launched play taking time in feeling the weight of the ball. Unfortunately for the Chipolopolo’s of Zambia, Soufiane Rahimi made a way through giving the first goal in just one minute. Contemplating whether it was a goal, it took some time then VAR declared it was a goal giving Morocco the lead.
It became more complicated for Zambia when Morocco continued mounting pressure gaining more of the play time. Eight minutes of play Mohammed Ali gave the second goal for Morocco.
More frustration came in when Zachariah Chilongoshi was sent out of the field of play with a red card for a fowl against Abdelilah Hafidi. This made it 11 against 10 to the detriment of Zambia.
Not loosing hope, Zambia stood their grounds gained possession, tried to seek for a lone goal, a Cross from Amity Shamende into Morocco’s danger zone, then came a header from Spencer Sautu but it was not productive.
Auoub El Kaabi struggling to get more goals, earned a penalty which he converted to a third goal in favour of Morocco.
Tides became higher barely five minutes to the end of the first segment, Soufiane Rahimi sent in a good Cross but Ayoub El Kaabi failed to deliver. A header again from El Kaabi was sent off by goalkeeper Allan Chibwe of Zambia.
Halftime, Morocco led 3#0.
Second Half
Defending champions continued their reign in the game. Free-kicks gotten no results produced.
Emmanuel Chabula substituted for Benson Sakala and Moses Phiri also got in for better play.
Monopoly of the ball was in the hands of Morocco. Curves drawn. It was actually a tough game for the Zambians, they found it very difficult penetrating the defence line of Morocco.
The Atlas Lions rather increased the intensity on the Zambians. Yellow card Collins Sikombe 77 minutes
80 minutes of regular play time Moses Phiri scored first goal for the Chipolopolo’s of Zambia.
The goal was a reviving aspect for the Zambians but time did not play well on their side.
Both teams made headers, shots on target, scoreboard stood at 3#1 in favour of Morocco.
