Mena of Niger have played a virgin tie with Libya in their first game of the African Nations Championship CHAN 2020.
A game played at the Japoma Sports Complex in Douala, Sunday January 17, 2021. Full of incomplete passes, dispositions and poor finishing Libya seperated with Niger 0#0
First Half
Lone Ghanaian referee in the CHAN tournament Daniel Nii Ayi Laryea sounded his whistle giving a kick off of the the game which was launched by Libyan side.
Within the first minute of play, a beautiful combination was cooked by the Nigerians, though it went into the back of the net, referee Daniel Nii Ayi Laryea said it was an offside.
Muetaz Al Mehdi in the fourth minute, had a counter attack but this was fruitless for the Libyans due to the brilliant play from captain Karim Mamoudou and Kimba Koudize sending the ball out of the 18 metres box
First free kick at the 8th minute by Ibrahim Issa Djibrilla but Libya’s “Wall of Jericho” stopped it giving a calm atmosphere in the 18Metres box
10 minutes Ibrahim Moussa wins another free-kick but Rabia Alshadi was there to clear the danger zone for Libya
Tension took the Nigerians when a great inter positional play was made giving way to Muetaz Husayn to make a breakthrough within the 11th and 12th minutes but the experience of goalkeeper Ibrahim Boubacar Marou of Niger was proven seeing his waiting hands being very magnetic.
First yellow card was awarded to Ibrahem Bodabous of Libya 20minutes in a fowl committed against Abdoul Darankoum
Ibrahim Djibrella once more with his frightening moves called goalkeeper Ahmed Azzaqah of Libya through a swipe but he was conscious enough to free his side.
Libyan earned a first corner kick taken by Rabia Alshadi which he sent a long one upfront still yo no avail
Compared to a magnet a powerful shot was driven by Muetaz, once more goalkeeper Ibrahim Boubacar saved his side.
Two corners played by Libya, ended in loose ends
120 seconds to the end of the first segment of the game, an awkward play came from Boubacar Djibrill unable to convert a floor level ball to a goal.
First half ended in a virgin tie for both sides.
Second half
On return for the second segment, Mohammed Makkari earned a free-kick for the libyans. Elmehdi on the ball sent a long one which went over the goal post.
Trying to secure victory, a tremendous combination was produced by Ibrahim Boubacar into the 18metres box, unfortunately Adamou Moussa and Ibrahim Djibila could not make meaning out of it.
Ibrahem Bodabous with the lone yellow card for the first half gave way to Muad Elsay for better chances
Goals became so difficult to come by. Frustration became the order of the day. 25 minutes of play for the second segment, an opportunity to give Niger the victory was marred by Ibrahim Boubacar sending the ball way higher than the goal post.
Niger recuperated play got a free-kick leading to another frustration.
Second substitution for Libya, Muetaz Husayn gave way to Zakaria Alharaish.
Out of Libya’s fourth corner kick 36 minutes in to the second half, benefited Niger taking the ball upfront by Ibrahim Djibrila, good dribbling skills yet no goal
Coach Harouna Douala for the Menas of Niger brought in his first substitution with about six minutes left for the second half. Ibrahim Boubacar gave way to Souleymane Mamane
Third substitution for Libya Rabiaa Abubaker out for Abdalla Sherif
Second change for Niger, Boubacar Djibrill for Abdoul Amadou
Offside side plays, throw ins, free-kicks, corner kicks, true passes ended the game in a virgin tie
