AS Futuro of Mfou forward Joseph Yannick N’djeng was on the scoresheet in Saturday’s quarter-final win for Cameroon as the team came from behind to punish two times winners of the African Nations Championship, DR Congo.
N’djeng scored Cameroon’s equalizer in the 28th minute at the Japoma stadium barely seven minutes after Makabi Lilepo had put the Leopards ahead.
N’djeng who was also involved in the goal scored in the one-nil win against Zimbabwe in the tournament’s opening game benefited from a lose ball in the box to equalize for Cameroon.
Felix Oukine scored what turned out to be the winner for Cameroon in the 41st minute but N’djeng’s work rate upfront and his contribution to help Cameroon reach a maiden semi-final cannot be overemphasized.
The 29-year-old former FC Sion forward is one of four AS Futuro of Mfou players in the Cameroon squad for the ongoing African Nations Championship.
Midfielder Penda Gabriel Fils, attacking colleagues Jacques Zoua Daogari and Mfede Junior are also of the ambitious Center region outfit.
Mfede has also provided an assist in the ongoing competition.
Cameroon face the winner between Zambia and Morocco in the semi-final on February 3 in Limbe.
