The future of the Head Coach of the Uganda Cranes is in doubt as to the technical team of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations, FUFA, is examining the results of the Coach and a decision to either sack him or not is expected soon.
Coach Jonathan McKinstry’s Uganda Cranes crashed out at the group stages of the 6th edition of the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) in Cameroon.
“There is an evaluation which is going on, and I always listen to my technical people, even during the appointments, my job is to say yes or no. I am not saying we are going to fire him or not, but the fact is that there is an evaluation ongoing,” FA President Moses Magogo said while appearing on a local TV station in Uganda as quoted by thesportsnation.com
“At the moment, we are taking stock of what he has done since he arrived here and whatever the technical report that will come to us in the next few days, we will come out with a final decision.”
The country that was had its 5th appearance at the CHAN tournament continued its poor participation as they did not succeed in coming out of the group stages, a situation similar to that in 2011, 2014, 2016, and 2018.
“And as FUFA, we are not shy with our decision – We will come out and say that we have discontinued our engagement or we are giving him approval. I have my personal view as (Uganda Cranes) fan but I believe that the technical people are better in analyzing,” FA President Moses Magogo added
Housed in Group C, McKinstry’s Ugandan Cranes finished bottom of their group with 1 point after 3 games. The 1 point was gotten on January 18 as Uganda drew 0-0 with Rwanda. The Cranes scored just 3 goals and conceded 7.
