Eagles of Mali have gone pass the group stage of the African Nations Championship CHAN 2020 in pool A, beating Zimbabwe 1#0.
Demba Diallo gave the lone goal of the game, 11 minutes into the first segment at the Japoma Stadium in Douala, Sunday January 24, 2021.
Mali has there qualified for the next stage of the competition with seven points penned against her name in group A.
As play time was launched, Malians headed for the forefront attempting to get the lead by Moussa Kone, they were unfortunately stopped.
The warriors of Zimbabwe barely two minutes into the game earned the first free kick, taken by Qadr Amini, out of the white line was the final destination of the ball for a goal kick.
Two minutes into the game, coach Logarusic Zdravko of Zimbabwe made his first substitution sending out Qadr Amini for Ian Samuel Nekati.
A simultaneous one-two touche orchestrated at the Japoma Stadium by Malians painted a beautiful picture for the game. Through a smooth pass from Moussa Ballo, Demba Diallo converted it to the first goal in the game within 11 minutes of play giving Mali the lead.
The Eagles of Mali continued the game with high qualification spirit aiming for the goal post. Free kicks gotten by both sides all did not produce any fruit.
Zimbabwe with determination to win, took hold of the ball 33 minutes into regular play time. 34 minutes into the game Partson Jaure, struggled to equalise for Zimbabwe in an attempt but goalkeeper Djiguo Diarra was there for Mali’s ressue.
Andrew Kabila of Zimbabwe was booked for committing a fowl just seconds to the end of the first game. Same time, the Malians were awarded 2 free kicks all fell into deaf ears.

Zimbabwe’s plans to hinder Mali from progressing was gradually being frustrated by the Malians.
An opportunity it was for Zimbabwe to have an equalizer 53minutes, the undirected shot by the Warrior’s Pawell Govere rather went for a 5.5metres spot kick.
An undetermined game it was, both sides playing with little or no concern for more goals, more of play centred around the median, limited forward moves.
Both coaches decided to change their playing tactics. Farau Matare was substituted for Thomas Chideu, Pawell Govere for Leeroy Mavunga of Zimbabwe while Sadio Kanoute was replaced by Aly Desse Sissoko, Ibourahim Sidibe replaced by Makan Samabali and Moussa Kone for Bassekou Diabate.
75 minutes of active play, the Eagles of Mali had another chance to increase goals in the game. Poor finishing from Moussa Kone and Moussa Ballo, left an uncompromising atmosphere for Mali.
Several opportunities kept popping up for Mali to concretize their way through. Demba Diallo while trying to record Moussa Kone’s name on the scoreboard, sent an accurate pass but Kone was not vigilant enough.
Zimbabwe only realized herself 10 minutes to the end of regular play time gaining most of the corner kicks, free kicks, and ball possession all to no avail.
Bassekou Diabate 89 minutes launched a counter attack, beating four defenders targeting the goal post, failed to deliver hitting the goal post.
Mali backs home seven points in 3 games first in group A followed by Cameroon’s Intermediate Lions with four points.
