Martin Ndtoungou Mpile head coach of the Intermediate Lions of Cameroon has confirmed the Atlas Lions of Morocco were superior to Cameroon’s squad.
Reacting to worries posed by press men in a post match conference, coach Mpile regrets the defeat and attested to the fact Morocco was a better side than Cameroon.
“We always have regrets when we lose a game of this magnitude. Nothing worked for us today. Morocco were too superior for our team today.”
One of the most experienced players in the squad Jacques Zuoa has been out of the line-ups. Reacting to this, the tactician said
“Jacques Zoua was part of the players for this tournament. He was injured and his absence should not be a problem because there are players that can replace him.” Coach Mpile
Recently, AS Futuro’s stricker Joseph Yannick Ndjeng has been on the starting 11 of the lions games. To the coach this was a chance to prove himself as he did against DR Congo but failed.
“The choice of Ndjeng to start the game was due to his performance in our last game but he could not make use of the chance today.”
Quizzed on the coach’s selection he says “It is every coaches objective to select players that are going to deliver the goods. But unfortunately like we saw today, it did not work out well.”
The lions crashed out of the competition beaten by Morocco 4#0 in the Limbe Omnisport Stadium.
The Intermediate Lions will battle for the third place in the competition against The National Elephants of Guinea who failed to book a ticket to the finals from Mali in a 5#4 penalty kick.
Both sides will battle at the Reunification Stadium in Douala Saturday February 6, 2021.
