Cameroon has been chosen among the six Cemac sub-regional countries to host the 2022 edition of the Cemac Games.Following a maestral organization of the 2021 African Football Championship (CHAN) and that of the just ended 33rd edition of the TotalEnergies African Cup of Nations.
The decision was officially made public this Tuesday.After a working session held in Yaounde, between Sports Minister Professor Narcisse Mouelle Kombi and Jose Antonio Edjang Ntutumu Commissioner in charge of development, education, research and social development. The competition could change its appellation from the Udeac games to the Cemac Games.
The last edition of the Udeac Games held in 2014 in Equatorial Guinean, had seen Chad emerged champions for the first time. Meanwhile, Cameroon had ended on the third spot after trashing Equatorial Guinea on penalty shootout by 6-5.
“The CEMAC Games will consist of football, basketball, cycling and other disciplines for both the men and women.”
“Experts from the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education and the CEMAC commission members in charge of development, education, research and social development, shall hold a working session, so as to evaluate the necessary requirements needed. After which a feedback will be subjected to the sub region’s hierarchies”. Professor Narcisse Mouelle Ekombi said.
The CEMAC football tournament will see the participation of local players, plying their trade in the various domestic leagues. The six nations expected to take part in this competition includes; Cameroon, Chad, Congo, Central Africa Republic, Gabon, Sao Tome and Equatorial Guinea.
